Mexican Sarsaparilla Root is a perennial trailing vine with prickly stems. Its name, which is zarzaparrilla in Spanish, comes from the Spanish words zarza for “shrub” and parrilla for “little grape vine.” This particular plant is indiginous to Mexico.
